S. Siobhan McCarthy: Altered States – Primal Scream
Vancouver, BC
Physical Theatre & Performance Art

Siobhan McCarthy is one of Canada’s most accomplished “cross-over” artists – using her dynamic blend of physical theatre to explore disability and to dazzle audiences with risky, challenging performance art work that stretches the boundaries of both disability and theatre. Hot off of her phenomenal BC tour, Siobhan brings us Altered States – Primal Scream: the edge of consciousness, where she takes physical theatre to the extreme to invite us into the consciousness of mental illness.

Using fables and stand-up comedy to debunk myths about disability, Alan is a respected artist throughout the world in both disability and mainstream events. Stage Left Productions: Notwithstanding
Calgary, AB
Interdisciplinary Performance Creation

Philosopher George Santayana said, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” This adage is appropriate in our current rush into the “gene age,” which has striking parallels to the eugenics movement of the early decades of the 20th century. Notwithstanding articulates these parallels, through interdisciplinary exploration, as we examine Alberta’s eugenics practices over the past 100 years and juxtapose them against the contemporary life stories of five disabled Albertans.

  • Each night at 8:00pm

Inside Out: Maestropiece Theatre
Calgary, AB
Improvised Musical Comedy

Inside Out Integrated Theatre was Calgary’s first theatre company to integrate people with disabilities into our arts community and is now Calgary’s longest-running theatre company for people with disabilities. Inside Out’s current production focuses on a Maestro theme. Mimed pieces to themed music are interlaced with improvised skits conducted by improv specialist Rick Hilton. Themes for the improvisation pieces are led by, as always, what makes us laugh and the ills of society in relation to disability culture.
